Chinese hackers form US military cyber attack plans: report

Agence France-Presse

LONDON - Chinese military hackers have drawn up a plan to disable the United States' battle carrier fleet through a cyber attack, British newspaper The Times said Saturday, citing a Pentagon report.

The blueprint is part of a plan by Beijing to establish "electronic dominance" over its global rivals by 2050, particularly the United States, Britain, Russia and South Korea, said the daily.

The newspaper said two hackers working for China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) came up with the plan.

The Pentagon report says China's military regards offensive computer operations as "critical to seize the initiative" in the early stages of a war, The Times said.

"China's ambitions extend to crippling an enemy's financial, military and communications capabilities early in a conflict," said the newspaper.

According to The Times, Larry M. Wortzel, author of the US Army War College report, said: "The thing that should give us pause is that in many Chinese military manuals they identify the US as the country they are most likely to go to war with. They are moving very rapidly to master this new form of warfare."

The PLA hackers produced a "virtual guidebook for electronic warfare and jamming" after studying NATO and US manuals on military tactics, the report said.

The Times said the Pentagon logged more than 79,000 attempted intrusions in 2005, of which about 1,300 succeeded.

China on Thursday denied that its military had hacked into the the websites of any foreign government, after press reports said Britain was the latest nation to fall victim to Chinese cyber attacks.

advancement

procurement of sensitive arms tech --- US responds by tightening control (we hope) of tech dissemination to China.

ever increasing budget allocated for DEFENSE (with all the dollars saved and being earned, where else can the money go, makes sense it has to go somewhere) and they're still denying it.

taking the war to cyberspace --- i guess they have an answer now to the US own electronic warfare division.

it is a worry that right now there is no country that can check this... the US is stretched out tooooo thin, with its own internal problems caving in on it.

people are starting to notice...

China is definitely on a "LONG MARCH" (pardon the pun)... to economic success? yes... but also on its ambitions... MILITARILY.

not just on conventional fields but as well as on cyberspace and yes, outerspace (well, they're planning a moon trip).

while Iraq and the still running strong war on terror has been draining US defense spending budget, China is on the pickup... picking up every material that can contribute to its capability to flex its military muscle not just in Asia but on the world theater.

A strong military is a bargaining chip... an ace on the sleeve... a rabbit's foot... and a sharp knife on the left hand behind one's back while the right hand is comfortably resting on the shoulder.

All it takes is the right time.

missiles capable of covering North America, that can shoot down satellites and all the money to spread around the third world from profits earned from the West.

in theory, we might be contributing to the ascension of a new world power, the purpose of which still to be determined.

think about it.

Admiral's opinion

a US admiral recently met with Chinese counterparts and stated that China's recent space missile destruction of an old satellite sends confusing signs.

boy, it really did. and it came as a surprise to everybody.

now the US is considering conducting training with the Chinese military which is fast catching up (and by the way, they have the most number of troops in the world right now) to them... hmm... either to size up a future foe's capabilities or to rehearse a future war?

God forbid.

and China has 1 trillion dollars extra on its pocket... i think it can already buy a small country, wage war for a year, or invade its renegade province.

we're watching... we can't wait for what's coming next. if Iran enters the scene, the more it will benefit the Dragon's ambitions.

45 billion just for training? are you high?

45 billion dollars or 17.5 % increase in military spending.. take note, for training!

are you high? are you going to train 2.5 million troops in a program similar to what Navy SEALS, Rangers or Delta Force go through in order to have a military that can deal with any air, land or sea threat in the world or against you?

oh boy...The Dragon is really hell bent on replacing the current world's policeman.

45 billion dollars against a paltry 400+ million for Taiwan's updated missile systems... do the math for me please.

China to US: Stop Missile Sale to ROC

a case of the pot calling the kettle "super" black... China demanding cessation of US missile sales to Taiwan... you got artillery and missile batteries directed at Taiwan from a nearby isle; come on give them some breathing space. Besides, you got important parts illegally obtained at the Arms Black Market (Maverick guidance systems) courtesy of lousy Pentagon arms sales procedures so why not allow Taiwan to legally have them? They can afford it anyway.

awaiting next move on the chessboard...

a candid US reply

the chess pieces are slowly but surely being put into place.

yes, i admit it was done to show off NoKor what Uncle Sam's got up his sleeve in case the Pyongyang godhead decides to launch warheads at the US mainland.

but it is also a followup statement to China's recent successful obliteration of its own satellite by a ground-based missile; proudly Made in China.
